Department of Ophthalmology is situated on the 11th floor of Block B of Gandhi Medical College,
Bhopal At present, department has 7 Post graduate uptake every year for their masters, 250 students uptake for MBBS, 30 students for paramedical course in ophthalmology. T

They are trained in various sub specialities like Vitreo-Retina, Occuloplasty & squint, Cataract, Glaucoma, Cornea and Retinopathy of prematurity.
We have set up for all kinds of Vitreo-Retinal surgeries. We run the biggest Retinopathy of prematurity clinic in state and for this; patients are referred from all over the state for treatment. We have successfully screened over 5000 preterm babies of Retinopathy of prematurity and treated whenever it is required. Eye bank caters to the city of Bhopal and surrounding Districts. Eye bank is equipped with all modern facilities and is one of the best eye bank in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
We are expanding the facilities of eye bank to the peripheral part of District Glaucoma clinic is running with all modern facilities. Occuloplaty & Squint clinic caters to the problems of paediatric age group like ptosis and squint. Apart from clinical activities academic activities are also being carried out by department for students.
For MBBS course the new competency based curriculum is being followed. Apart from the routine competency based postgraduate programme which includes case presentation, seminar, journal club, group discussion etc. the postgraduate students are also being benefitted by the evening teaching grand rounds, guest lectures by state and national level faculties, workshops and skill transfer courses.
