For the first time, angioplasty of the leg arteries was successfully performed at Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal, under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The procedure helped restore normal blood flow in a 75-year-old patient whose leg arteries were 90% blocked, thereby preventing amputation.
The achievement was accomplished under the guidance of the Department of Radiodiagnosis and marked the beginning of advanced interventional radiology services for peripheral vascular diseases at the institution.
2 Workshop on New Radiological Diagnostic Techniques (September 2025):
Faculty members of the Department of Radiodiagnosis participated as invited speakers in a CME titled “Breast Imaging – Fundamentals to Future Trends” held at Military  Hospital, Jhansi. The CME focused on discussions regarding new radiological diagnostic methods and breast imaging advancements.Over 80 radiologists from Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, and Lucknow attended the event, organized in collaboration with IRIA Jhansi City
3  Approval for Sonography Practice to 87 Doctors in Madhya Pradesh (October 2025):After an 11-year-long process, 87 doctors across Madhya Pradesh received authorization to perform ultrasonography (sonography) independently. This initiative is expected to significantly improve maternal and child health services by enhancing diagnostic accessibility and reducing mortality rates. The approval will help ensure timely prenatal screening and better imaging support at district and peripheral healthcare centers.
Training and Skill Development :
The Department of Radiodiagnosis at Gandhi Medical College and Hamidia Hospital continues to provide practical training in angioplasty, ultrasonography, and advanced imaging techniques to postgraduate students and residents. The department aims to strengthen hands-on skills and clinical competence through continuous education and exposure to interventional radiology procedures

First-of-its-Kind Procedure on Cancer Patient (Dec 2023)

For the first time, doctors successfully removed a cancer patient’s gall bladder using a stent-assisted drainage technique when surgery was impossible due to severe jaundice.

The innovative use of a metallic transhepatic stent restored bile flow and improved the patient’s condition, enabling further treatment.

MRI Accessibility & Efficiency (Mar 2025)

Investigative reports highlighted Hamidia Hospital’s prompt MRI services, offering immediate scans compared to long waiting periods (up to 16 months) at AIIMS and BMHRC.

This reflects Hamidia’s advanced diagnostic facilities and commitment to timely patient care.

Two Complex Urology Surgeries

Two challenging, minimally invasive procedures were performed  demonstrating Hamidia’s excellence in advanced endoscopic and interventional techniques.
