Department of Physiology was one of the first department to be established in 1955 at the inception of Gandhi Medical College Bhopal.
At present annual intake of UG is 250,and PG is 9. Department of Physiology is equipped with well developed Clinical Physiology, Hematology, Amphibian ,Mammalian labs for teaching Indian Medical Graduate and Exercise physiology lab , Neurophysiology lab ,Autonomic function testing lab for research purposes,Mirror therapy lab for phantom's limb pain patients.
Dedicated faculty members of the department impart quality education as well as Guide undergraduates in their STS projects too.
Teaching faculty had published papers in medical journals of national and international repute in past years.
Many Academic and research projects are ongoing in the department.
In coming future we are trying to expand research facilities and are also in process to establish state of art Molecular lab as well as equip the present Yoga lab .
